capi4hylafax for Debian ---------------------- As root do the following: 1) Invoke "capi4hylafaxconfig" to change the configuration file "/etc/hylafax/config.faxCAPI" (this needs the `dialog' package installed) or change it with your preferred editor. The options are defined in that file. 2) Edit /etc/default/capi4hylafax: Set run_capi4hylafax to 1 to start capi4hylafax at boot time. 3) Type "/etc/init.d/capi4hylafax start" to start capi4hylafax. 4.1) If you use the hylafax server: Configure hylafax to use faxmodem instead of faxgetty, by setting USE_FAXGETTY to "no" in /etc/default/hylafax. You may have to adapt your configuration if you plan to continue using non-CAPI fax modems. Invoke "faxmodem faxCAPI" to tell hylafax about the new device. Restart hylafax (/etc/init.d/hylafax restart) Everything should work now. If you use a device name that is does not match the pattern 'faxCAPI*', then you should also add in /etc/hylafax/config: SendFaxCmd: /usr/bin/c2faxsend Note that you won't be able to use non-CAPI modems to send faxes then. 4.2) If you are NOT using hylafax (stand alone version): put "example/sample_faxrcvd" as "faxrcvd" in /var/spool/hylafax/bin and edit it. -- Lionel Elie Mamane , Wed, 19 Mar 2008 10:36:26 +0100 Additional package isdnactivecards: With version -18 the package 'isdnactivecards' were defined only as suggested package because of Debian Policy 2.2.1. This package is in section contrib because it needs/uses non-free firmwares. You should install 'isdnactivecards' only if want to use one of the following (older) active ISDN cards: - Eicon - Eicon Diva - IBM Active 2000 - ICN - PCBIT-D -- Joachim Wiedorn Sat, 03 Nov 2012 22:03:33 +0100
