cloop for Debian ---------------- What is cloop? It is a simple way to compress a real filesystem and mount it per loopback, so you can access all the data on-the-fly. Before starting, you will need to build the filesystem module and load it into the running kernel. Please read the create_compressed_fs(1) manpage about how to create a compressed filesystem volume and how to mount it. To install the cloop modules package you better use module-assistant. To get, build and install, simply run: module-assistant auto-install cloop (or "m-a a-i cloop"). To build with make-kpkg and install manually please consult the documentation of dpkg (manpage) and kernel-package. IMPORTANT: configure the kernel with zlib functions, set the config variable CONFIG_ZLIB_INFLATE to y! Building zlib-inflate code as module DOES NOT WORK, at least not until you add a line in the kernel source to export some symbol, see http://bugs.debian.org/184246 for details. -- Eduard Bloch Sat, 20 Aug 2005 02:37:56 +0200
