dict-freedict for Debian ------------------- This dictionary is UTF-8 encoded. If you use dictd < 1.10.1, make sure to start it with appropriate --locale option (for more information see 'man dictd'). The 'dictl' program also may be useful for you. It is a wrapper script for dict that permits using utf-8 encoded dictionaries on a terminal that is not utf-8 aware. Some dictionaries upstream have auto-generated phonemes in their dictionary, generated at build time. Currently, this is not possible in Debian, because the program used for this seems to have licensing issues and it is also not packaged. So this feature is disabled.
