Hydrogen drumkits for Debian ============================ Hydrogen curates a list of official drumkits, which users can download and use. Drumkits in this list have various licenses, some are free to use for any purpose, while others have a non-commercial clause or other restrictions. This Debian package (hydrogen-drumkits) contains only drumkits that meet the criteria of the Debian Free Software Guidelines [DFSG], and can be used for any purpose ("Free as in speech"). If you want to use one of the other (non-packaged, non-DFSG-free) drumkits, you can download and install them from within 'hydrogen'. 1. start 'hydrogen' 2. In the menu, navigate to 'Instruments' -> 'Import library' 3. Select the official drumkit feed from the pull down menu. If it is not there, you can add it via the "Edit server list": http://www.hydrogen-music.org/feeds/drumkit_list.php 4. Click on "Update list" to refresh the available drumkits 5. Select the drumkit you like an click on "Download and install" When installing drumkits, make sure that you comply to the drumkits' license. E.g. if the license forbids commercial use, don't use it to create songs you want to distribute commercially. Many drumkits in the official list use sounds recorded directly from hardware drum machines, where the hardware manufacturer most likely has the copyright of the drum samples. Even if the drumkits are licensed under a free-ish license, make sure that you actually have the rights to use these samples (e.g. because you own such a hardware).
