Additional notes for kicad-footprint

This package is providing the footprint packages for the KiCad application
which are used within Eeschema.

Upstream has no classical stable release concept from a Debian point of view.
This means that (especially for the footprints) the containing folders of the
various footprint libraries are not that static within a stable release of the
KiCad applications.

The KiCad library maintainers do decide which footprints will getting moving
between the folders. So it might happen that folders within

  /usr/share/kicad/modules/

will disappear by a new Debian package version. This should have no direct
effect on the user side due the usage of cached libraries within projects.
But you might want to adjust your local configuration of the footprint library
table to avoid future inclusion of the removed folder as KiCad while writing
has no automatic mechanism to adjust such movements!

The user specific footprint library table can be found here

  /home/$(USER)/.config/kicad/fp-lib-table

or you prefer to use the graphical UI for modification which you can start in
the KiCad launcher by calling

  Menubar: Preferences -> Manage Footprint Libraries...
