vym (3.0.0+git20260819-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  Download features, which include some telemetry and release notes downloads,
  are no longer disabled by default. New users will see a pop-up asking for
  permission on the first start of vym.
  The vym developer kindly asked me to allow this user opt-in for telemetry.
  Past Debian packages contained a source code modification which outright disabled
  all functionality connecting back to the developers site.

  Existing users can check the local configuration in ~/.config/InSilmaril/vym.conf
  for the section and flag

  [downloads]
  enabled=true|false

  to figure out the current setting before starting vym.
  If you want to toggle this setting in the UI use "Settings" -> "Check for release
  notes and upates".

  Release notes are also available locally in /usr/share/doc/vym/release-notes-3.0.md.gz

  Disabled and removed from the menu is the option to check for version updates.
  This feature would not be helpful for software shipped in a Debian stable release.
