wxPython 3.0 for Debian ======================= The following packages are potentially built from the wxpython3.0 source package (currently the latter two are provided by wxwidgets2.8, but we intend to switch this over before jessie): python-wxgtk3.0 Python binding to wxGTK python-wxversion The wxversion.py version selector (present since wxPython2.6) python-wxtools The ancillary tools from the wxPython distribution. Notable changes from the wxwidgets2.8 packages ---------------------------------------------- For wxPython 2.8, the wxPython packages were built by the wxwidgets2.8 source package (which actually contained the wxPython source release). This always had its problems, but what finally forced a change was that the gap between a wxWidgets release and the corresponding wxPython release now seems to be several months. In the wxwidgets2.8 packaging, there was a python-wxgtk2.8-dbg package which had a separate build of wxPython built against a separate build of the C++ library, which had been built with __WXDEBUG__ enabled. Upstream now enable __WXDEBUG__ by default, so we no longer need this parallel build of the C++ library or wxPython. For more information on the upstream __WXDEBUG__ changes since 2.8, please see: http://docs.wxwidgets.org/3.0.0/overview_debugging.html -- Olly Betts Wed, 02 Jul 2014 18:44:56 +1200
