README for the Debian gretl packages 1) Support for X-12-Arima and Tramo/Seats de-seasonalization programs Since version 1.0.1, gretl can support the external stand-alone programs x12a [by the U.S. Census Bureau, see http://www.census.gov/srd/www/x12a/ for documentation, source code and binaries] and tramo/seats [by the Bank of Spain, see http://www.bde.es/servicio/software/econome.htm]. Allin Cottrel provides rpm as well as alien(1)-generated deb packages for both x12arima and tramo/seats. They are available from the gretl web site at http://gretl.sourceforge.net/ as well as from Allin's ftp site at ftp://ricardo.ecn.wfu.edu:/pub/gretl in the i386 binary form. Moreover, a script x12arima.sh is installed by the gretl package in the directory /usr/share/doc/gretl/examples/utils/tramo_x12/. It can be used to dowmload, compile and install the x12arima program directly from the source code available at the U.S. Census web site. This should make it suitable for non-i386 platforms. At some point, a standard Debian package may be created from these sources. If you are interested in having such a package, drop me a line. Tramo/seats is not available in source form. A few polite email to the authors may change that. -- Dirk Eddelbuettel , Sat Sep 6 11:57:05 2003
