Character encoding:
===================

IMPORTANT:
If you use accents or non ASCII characters you shall use the
"UTF: Latin1, Western Europe (CP1252)" instead of "Latin1 / No conversion"
in File -> Preferences -> Locale -> Character Set

If you use "Latin1 / No conversion" (or anoth non UTF-8 encoding) you
will see messages on the console like:
** (jpilot:22053): WARNING **: Invalid UTF8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text()

THIS IS NOT A BUG! With GTK+ 2.0 you HAVE to use a UTF-8 character set.


Communication port:
===================

The libpisock library used to use the /dev/pilot symbolic link to point
to the real device used by the Palm.  This is no longer the case
(starting wit pilot-link 0.12.0) and you must explicitly use the a
device name now.

If you have a USB connected PDA you may use "usb:".
If you have a serial connected PDA you may use "/dev/ttyS0" (use 0 if
the PDA is connected to the first serial port)

Read /usr/share/doc/pilot-link/README.libusb.gz for more information on
the USB connection.
