# Notes about Debian packaging of Onionprobe These are notes specific for the Debian package. For the full documentation, check /usr/share/doc/onionprobe/README.md.gz or the upstream docs at https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/onion-services/onionprobe. ## System-wide service The Onionprobe package for Debian comes with a system-wide service. It is disabled by default, since Onionprobe should not be opinionated about how the user wants to run it -- whether as a standalone tool or as a service. ### Systemd When using systemd, it can be enabled using sudo systemctl enable onionprobe sudo service onionprobe start ### Other init systems The package comes with a /etc/init.d/onionprobe script suited for other init systems. Please consult your init system documentation on how to enable it. ### Service configuration By default it uses the /etc/onionprobe/onionprobe.yaml. This file comes with a very basic configuration and can be customized as needed. It's also possible to specify another configuration file by setting the CONFIG variable at /etc/default/onionprobe. Make sure to restart the onionprobe service after editing any of these configuration files.
