NOTES FOR DEBIAN USERS ====================== 1. AUTOMATIC STARTUP -------------------- In order to avoid the startup of the BGP daemon on an unconfigured machine, automatic startup, on boot, is disabled by default. To enable it, perform this action: 1. For systems running systemd: systemctl enable openbgpd 2. CONFIGURATION ---------------- After the installation of the package the configuration file /etc/bgpd.conf will not exist. This is intentional because because a sane default configuration file suitable to all environments does not exist (other than RFC 8212 ;-). The /usr/share/doc/openbgpd/bgpd.conf.gz file contains excellent inspiration. To get started: $ zcat /usr/share/doc/openbgpd/bgpd.conf.gz | sudo tee /etc/bgpd.conf
