PHCpack for Debian ================== QD library ---------- The Debian package is built without the use of the QD library for double-double and quad-double floating point numbers, as it has a non-free license. PHClab ------ The MATLAB/Octave interface to PHCpack is available in the octave-phclab binary package. Documentation is available at the author's website: http://homepages.math.uic.edu/~jan/PHClab.pdf Note that loading and using PHClab in Octave has been slightly simplified for the Debian package as compared to what is outlined in the documentation: * PHClab has already been added to Octave's path, i.e., simply start Octave and run "pkg load phclab". * It is not necessary to run "set_phcpath" to set the path to the phc binary; it is done automatically when loading PHClab. Macaulay2 --------- The PHCpack source code includes two Macaulay2 packages (LRhomotopies and PHCpack) for interfacing with the phc binary. These are not distributed with the PHCpack Debian package because they are already shipped with Macaulay2 (available in Debian as "macaulay2"). Note that LRhomotopies is not shipped as a standalone package in Macaulay2, but is included in NumericalSchubertCalculus. -- Doug Torrance , Sat, 10 Jul 2021 15:38:53 -0400
