propaganda-debian for Debian ---------------------------- To browse the background tiles included in this package load the file /usr/share/doc/propaganda-debian/html/index.html in your favourite graphical web brower. A generic way of installing an image as a desktop background is to use the xsetbg utility included in the xloadimage package. To use xsetbg to set a defauly background include a line such as exec xsetbg /usr/share/wallpapers/A-Little-Exercise-1.JPG in your Xsession file. An alternative to xsetbg is the use the graphical program chbg. It allows one to randomly choose a background from a list of available files. NOTE: If you have a background image set in for example GNOME or KDE they will most likely override any image set with xsetbg or chbg. If you want to prevent Nautilus from drawing the desktop wallpaper, you must use gconf-editor to add the following: Under /apps/nautilus/preferences, add a new boolean key called "show_desktop" and set it to false. GNOME wallpaper chooser ----------------------- If you'd like to use the GNOME wallpaer chooser with this package, Jerome Potts has provided an XML file (see /usr/share/doc/propaganda-debian/examples/) which you can put under /usr/share/gnome-background-properties/ -- Francois Marier , Fri, 20 Apr 2007 12:16:13 +1200
