Spamc uses a default maximum message size of 500 kB. While this conservative setting is a safe default, modern email is likely to exceed this value fairly regularly. Unless you're running in a constrained environment with limited CPU and memory resources, you should consider specifying a larger limit at run time either in the configuration file, /etc/spamassassin/spamc.conf, or on the spamc command line.
